Numismatic Guaranty Corp. NGC was founded in 1987, and for coin grading, its opening heralded the introduction of a new standard of integrity. From the beginning NGC focused on only one objective, a standard of consistent and accurate grading. As NGC has grown to become the leader in third-party grading services, we have maintained a steadfast and uncompromising commitment to this standard.
Professional Coin Grading Service The Guarantee of Grade & Authenticity is fundamental to PCGS's concept of third-party grading. The cash-back policy ensures the accuracy of the grade assigned to any PCGS coin as long as it remains in its tamper-evident holder. If a coin is believed to be improperly graded, and a discrepancy is found when resubmitted through PCGS's Downgrade Resubmission service, the guarantee entitles the coin's owner to options designed for his protection.
Dominion Grading Service Coins submitted to DGS will be carefully graded by a team of numismatic professionals consisting of members of the DLRC staff, and outside numismatic professionals who are considered to be experts in their fields. We also offer a Signature Series of grading where submitters may request the certification of their coin(s) from the designated outside expert. Please refer to the Signature Series information page.
American Numismatic Association ANACS’ rich and noble history began in 1972. It was created by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) with a mission to correct an urgent problem facing the coin hobby. The ANA is a century-old, not-for-profit educational association for collectors of coins, tokens, medals and paper money. The ANA, like the U.S. Olympic Association and the American Red Cross, is chartered by the U.S. Congress.
Independent Coin Grading Just as diamonds are graded by professional jewelers based upon their color, cut and clarity, professional coin graders judge circulated coins primarily by the amount of detail removed from the coin as it circulates and wears down. It’s with uncirculated, or Mint State, coins, however, that coin grading becomes more complex and challenging. Mint State coin grading is much more sophisticated and requires years of grading experience. It is one of the major reasons why people turn to Independent Coin Grading.
